Love Today

Today we bring you pictures of the upstairs rooms, in all of their glory (we even vacuumed and neatened up for the photo-taking occasion). With this, we hope to usher in a new, post-Jake era of discretionary home improvement projects only. Jer is relieved, because he hates exposing the world to the picture of our house looking sad and ravaged.

Mainly, we'll likely hire a finish carpenter to install drawers in the empty center space and clean up a little work done by the framer. After that we'll install some trim to cap the thing off and paint it the same color as the rest of the trim.


...And just for a little bit of human, here are some pictures from summer 2009 of us refinishing the doors.


The five-panel doors are characteristic of American four square homes, and Jeremy was impressed by the craftsmanship on these old boys. (This is the unfinished surface.)

When he wakes up, I'll have him explain the cleverness of the construction to me. (Here. we're applying a second layer of tung oil to the surface of the wood post filling and gentle sanding).
